The Howard County Autism Society is saddened to announce the passing of Norma Morales, an HCAS member and tireless volunteer.
Norma was an impassioned autism mom and community leader. She consistently encouraged and supported every parent to be a strong and confident advocate for their child. Norma volunteered as an interpreter and translator for HCAS to support Spanish-speaking parents, helping the organization expand its outreach and special education services. She was never too busy to help someone else.
At the recent HCAS Annual Meeting in December, HCAS honored Norma and Marianela Estrada as the 2020 Madhu Thibaudeau Volunteers of the Year for their work in founding and leading the HCAS Latino Parent Group. She leaves two children, Charley and Susy, her mother, and many loving friends and family members.
